Psychologist (General or Clinical)
Positive Wellbeing Psychology is looking to expand our team with another outstanding psychologist in the Feb/March 2025 (Contractor Positions). If you are considering a shift to private practice or already have experience in this area, we encourage you to read on.
About Us
We are a highly supportive and well-established private practice located in the tree-lined streets of Armadale. Our boutique private practice features three charming, well-lit consulting rooms, a beautiful large waiting room with a fireplace opening on a courtyard, nestled among delightful coffee shops just off Beatty Avenue in Armadale.
Our Values
We seeking a psychologist that aligns with our core values of:
• Warmth
• Genuine care
• Integrity
We understand that private practice can be isolating, but by joining our psychology practice, we’re confident you’ll feel supported and valued. A few ways we provide this level of support, are shared below, but please visit our website to learn more from our current team.
Supporting Team (Peer Consultations and Board-Approved Supervision):
Offering optional fortnightly peer consultation. A rare role in private practice where you will continue to learn new and develop learning in clinical presentations via fortnightly peer consultations with a team of psychologists, and professional development in areas including adult ADHD and eating disorders.
Professional Development:
Our current psychologists tend to hold a unique passion for an area of interest. These currently include ADHD, autism, eating disorders or disordered eating, poor body image, and specialised therapeutic methodologies like DBT, Schema, and Gottman’s, among others. Our psychologists find our fortnightly group supervision to be a valuable opportunity for growth and learning. The supervision can count towards your required hours logged each year.
Tailored Support:
Within our team, psychologists bring diverse backgrounds and expertise to the table. Some have entered our practice with specific special interests, while others have cultivated their focus areas over time, benefiting from the continuous support and guidance available within their roles. This blend of established and evolving interests ensures a dynamic environment where knowledge and expertise flourish, benefiting both our team and our clients.
Matching Referrals Interests:
Our psychologists are supported to refine their skills by receiving referrals that align with their interests, experience and preferred therapy modality. Should you be an early-career psychologist, our practice also supports you in accessing a wider array of referrals parallel to peer consultation to continue developing skills, before landing your specific area of interest.
Administration Support (Off-site):
Upon joining our private practice, you will receive comprehensive admin support from the start. This includes assistance in navigating Halaxy (our chosen software program), following up on client payments, handling referrals, sending welcome emails, acquiring client agreement forms, and preparing intake paperwork, ensuring your focus remains on fostering strong therapeutic relationships.
Streamlined and Efficient Therapy Processes/Systems:
Under Emily's guidance, meticulous processes have been crafted to facilitate seamless operations, allowing room for feedback and improvement. Cancellations are scarce, as you will have a waiting list. Accessible templates and therapy tools have been curated for ease of use during client sessions, empowering psychologists with resources at their fingertips.
Mentorship for Early Career Psychologists:
Emily fosters an environment that embraces the learning curve, encouraging individual growth and the occasional mistake as part of the learning journey. Early-career psychologists are provided with guidance and support to refine their expertise gradually within their chosen areas over time.
Referral Choice:
Positive Wellbeing Psychology maintains a consistent flow of referrals, a testament to our current team of highly skilled psychologists. We’re committed to regular peer consultations and support to uphold the high standard of care for our team of psychologists, ultimately benefiting our clients.
Social Events/Gatherings:
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to share a laugh and connect with other professionals on our team at breakfasts, paint-and-sip’s, local wine bars catch-ups and fortnightly peer consultations. These opportunities aim to nurture a supportive and inclusive environment for our team to connect and interact with like-minded people.
Beautiful Consulting Rooms:
We’re nestled in the leafy streets of Armadale, just near Toorak train station. Enjoy the convenience of excellent coffee shops just steps away, perfect for a refreshing break between client sessions.
Who we work with:
Our team of psychologists offer psychological support to adolescents, adults, children and their families who are facing diverse mental health challenges, spanning from depression, anxiety, stress, and burnout to relationship issues, eating disorders, body image concerns, adult ADHD, low self-esteem, and sleep problems.
Our services available at our Melbourne psychology practice extend beyond clinical concerns, encompassing personal growth, decision-making, and problem-solving support. Our practice directs client referrals based on your expertise and interests, making sure that individuals seeking assistance aligned with your specific niche are directed to you.
Referral sources:
Our referrals come from word of mouth, local and distant GPs, and AFL-PA (including current and former professional Australian Football League and AFL Women’s players). Funding options also include self-managed NDIS participants, Medicare-funded, and private fee-paying clients. Our reputable practice empowers psychologists to establish themselves within a rapidly growing referral network.
We have built a reputation for establishing a holistic approach for our clients, which in turn has maintained our referral flow from like-minded professionals. This includes local dietitians, GPs, psychiatrists, and other allied health professionals.
