Description

Maylands Physiotherapy is a busy clinic next door to a medical centre and chemist in Mayland's café district. We started in 2003 and have amazing support from the local community and surrounding suburbs who realise our capacity to get the job done and make a difference to people’s lives. This is reflected in our genuine Google reviews that were not solicited via a reward system. We employ high quality and widely varied manual treatment techniques that can easily be taught to potential candidates as needed, combined with carefully targeted postural change advice and physiotherapy exercise prescription combined with Clinical Pilates-based exercise programmes. We are expert at dry needling and other manual treatments. Maylands and Mt Lawley community notice boards mention our physiotherapists and Maylands Physiotherapy generally at a very high frequency compared to other clinics.

We are looking for a full time or part time New Graduate or Experienced Physiotherapist.  We currently have four senior physiotherapists with a combined experience of 48 years. Senior Physiotherapists Karen (GEM Masters of Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology) and Emma (Physiotherapist and Polestar Clinical Pilates Instructor) have both completed post graduate coursework in Clinical Pilates and we have all completed an extensive range of additional manual therapy and exercise based courses. Rebecca is both a physiotherapist and an exercise physiologist. We have each received mentoring from a range of remarkable practitioners, masters physiotherapists and others, which has made us very capable in our work and able to manage all patient types very effectively, most often in a short time frame. Maylands Physiotherapy is a friendly and welcoming place (recently described by our newest physio Saskia as “a beautiful place to work”) with the physios and admin staff having a relaxed feeling with one another and functioning very well as a team. The physios have regular stimulating clinical discussions in addition to our scheduled weekly CPD meetings.

The successful applicant will be given one to two sessions of in-house CPD training per week by the principal physiotherapist, Arran McDiven, with regular input from the other physiotherapists. They will be guided on external coursework to undertake. They are also welcome to suggest their own learning direction. They will be given the necessary manual and exercise skills to feel comfortable and competent within their role quickly. They will be guided thoroughly with management of acute and chronic injuries and will become comfortable with all sporting conditions. Another comment by our newest/youngest physiotherapist was her surprise at how quickly she was able to make meaningful and significant differences to people’s lives despite being recently graduated.

Should an experienced physiotherapist apply, the offer of training in-house will be made available to them if desired but is by no means essential.

New Graduates are encouraged to make contact with us to start the conversation about a role as soon as they feel ready, there is no need to wait until all New Graduate registration formalities are completed.

Maylands is close to the city between Mt Lawley and East Perth and so we benefit from a wide clientele catchment area with excellent GP and specialist doctor's referrals, often from outside our catchment. We part pay for the majority of courses attended including both those courses suggested by us and the ones you choose from your area of interest, usually 50% of the fee.

We offer a competitive salary package ($85K - $130K including super) with the potential for a bonus structure and pay progression based on years of experience which can include commission based pay. Experienced physiotherapists can negotiate whichever style of package they prefer.  Each room has a fast/new laptop with cloud-based booking software (Power Diary) and exercise prescription software (PhysiApp) with a huge number of specific exercise programs loaded and ready to go, shared by all physios. We are also mindful that for New Graduates keeping a slightly lower case load is better for learning and quality of service.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be interested in targeted exercise rehabilitation for self managed and small group programmes for a variety of sporting and community based injuries and pathologies. They will be able to use specific manual techniques to greatly assist this process. They will have an excellent diagnostic framework that leads to highly effective treatments and great results for patients which yields high levels of job satisfaction for the practitioner.
