We’re looking for a healthcare professional with experience of kidney disease to join our team and provide telehealth support via our free Kidney Helpline service to kidney consumers. This role is for an immediate start working Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-5am.
Kidney Health Australia is the peak national body representing those living with and affected by kidney disease. A not-for-profit organisation to promote good kidney health through education, advocacy, research and support.
About the role
The Kidney Health Australia Helpline is the first port of call for many people living with kidney disease and their family members and carers. The Kidney Helpline provides critical information and support to enquirers, at a time when it’s most needed. We are looking for a healthcare professional to join our Community Programs team to:
- Deliver high quality health information and advice related to kidney health issues through the Kidney Helpline via telephone and email (telehealth, not consumer facing role)
- Follow triaging protocols for all enquires to the Kidney Helpline and accurately record interaction in our database
- Connect people to appropriate resources, programs and services of Kidney Health Australia to improve their quality of life
- Coordinate Kidney Health Australia’s standard response database to support consistent messaging and advice across all communication channels
- Provide appropriate advice regarding referral to other community organisations or health services.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in nursing/ health / social sciences/ social services or other relevant discipline
- Working knowledge of the Australian health care system
- Strong knowledge of kidney and urinary tract diseases and related treatment options and management strategies
- Registered member of APHRA
- High-level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding of, and commitment to, delivery of health information based on evidence-based practice
- Highly effective organisational,and time management skills
- Experience in handling health related enquiries with confidentiality
- Demonstrated experience in handling enquiries that are sensitive, emotional or challenging
- Effective consultation, negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to establish rapport and empathy with enquirers
- Intermediate computer skills and use of a range of software
