Medical Receptionist Position – Hay Street Medical Centre

We are currently looking for applications from experienced Medical Receptionists to join our team in Subiaco on a permanent part-time basis.

The Role

Our Reception team are highly valued as they are the front line of our service to patients and set the mood for the patient's experience. They are also the voice of our Practice on the phone. 

You will have the skills to create a professional and caring impression on every occasion, whether in person or over the phone. You will have a desire to do your job well in a fast paced environment.

Our team includes 5 General Practitioners, 2 Registered Nurses and Dietician. The surgery is open 8am - 7pm Monday - Thursday , 8am - 5pm Friday and 8:15am - 1:00pm Saturday. Pathology is next door.

There will also be opportunities to cover other shifts so flexibility is important. We aim to be family and study friendly and are happy to work with your situation where possible.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming patients to the practice
• Answering and making phone calls in a fast paced environment
• Manage the online appointment book
• Process payments, perform banking duties and Medicare claiming
• Send and receive correspondence
• Updating patient files
• Light cleaning at the end of a shift.
• Preparing doctors and nurses rooms for the day

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Experience in Medical Reception
• Excellent communication skills
• IT proficiency - all patient records are computer based
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a team / job share
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to accept and adapt to change in a positive and constructive manner
• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work without supervision
• Support and participate in ongoing job related learning and development
• Experience using Best Practice or similar software packages
• Be familiar with GP  Medicare item numbers
• Strong, proven ability to multi-task and experience working in a fast paced environment
