The Melbourne Headache Centre is a highly specialised physiotherapy treatment facility dedicated to the assessment and treatment of the upper cervical spine as it relates to many conditions including;
- Headache disorders; tension type headache, migraine with/without aura, cluster headache
- Dizziness disorders; vestibular migraine, persistent postural-perceptual dizziness, disequilibrium, motion sensitivity
- Gastrointestinal disorders; cyclic vomiting syndrome, chronic nausea and vomiting syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome
- Dysautonomia including POTS, thoracic and jugular outlet syndromes
- Post traumatic conditions; post traumatic headache, persistent post concussion symptoms
The model of care focuses heavily on the Watson Headache® Approach.
For the past 5 years the Melbourne Headache Centre has become involved in research collaborating with the University of South Australia and physiotherapist Dr Dean Watson (PhD) to produce the first clinical research into manual cervical therapy and vestibular migraine. Further research collaborations have helped establish the Melbourne Headache Centre as an industry leader, drawing clients from every state and territory within Australia, and from New Zealand, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Thailand and the USA.
Role Description
We are seeking interest from suitably motivated physiotherapist to join this centre providing hope and relief to thousands people with chronic disorders. This is a full-time on-site role for a Headache Clinician located in Melbourne, VIC. The Headache Clinician will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with a range of disorders, developing personalised treatment plans, and conducting follow-up evaluations to ensure patient progress.
Qualifications
- Must be a qualified Physiotherapist registered to work in Australia (current AHPRA registration and insurance).
- Physiotherapist with strong manual therapy background (3-5 years manual therapy experience).
- Strong desire to niche and develop expertise in treating migraines and headaches.
- Ability to work with complex chronic presentations including chronic pain, chronic vestibular disorders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent bedside manner and patient care

- Successful completion or intention to complete a Watson Headache® Level 2 Advanced course.
- Experience with hypermobility disorders, thoracic outlet syndrome or concussion/vestibular rehabilitation.
