About the Role:
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Speech Pathologist to join their multidisciplinary supportive team. As a Speech Pathologist you will be:
- Screenings: This position involves performing individual, observation-based speech and language screenings with preschool and kindergarten children in various settings such as preschools, daycare centers, and schools. The screenings will evaluate age-appropriate speech and language development, with a focus on determining school readiness. The results of these screenings, along with any recommendations, will then be communicated to both the children's families and their educators.
- Assessments: This process involves comprehensive developmental assessments for children, conducted in various settings like clinics, daycare centers, schools, or homes. Evaluations utilize standardized and non-standardized assessments, along with clinical observations. Information gathering includes parent phone consultations, questionnaires for parents and teachers, and review of medical records. Initial assessments last 60-90 minutes, and formal reports with recommendations are prepared within 10 days, shared with relevant parties upon consent. Finally, the assessor collaborates with parents to create individualized goals and provides classroom strategies and resources to educators.
- Intervention & Ongoing Care: Regular review assessments should be conducted to track progress toward established goals. Progress reports should be provided after each assessment and also be made available to parents and educators upon request. Finally, children should be discharged from services once they have achieved their designated goals.
- Collaboration & Communication: To ensure the child receives the best possible care, it is crucial to maintain open and consistent communication with all relevant parties, including parents, educators, and other professionals involved in the child's well-being. This collaborative approach should extend to the team at Kids First Occupational Therapy, fostering a unified effort in supporting the child's development and progress.
- Professional Development: Speech pathologists must prioritize staying current with the latest research and best practices in their field. This includes actively engaging in professional development activities to maintain and enhance their skills and knowledge, ensuring they provide the most effective and up-to-date care for their clients.
