About Hastings Macleay Speech Pathology:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Paediatric Speech Pathologist to join a highly regarded private practice servicing adults and children in stunning Port Macquarie. HM Speech is a culturally responsive workplace and offers neurodiversity affirming practice. The Position: 

We are seeking a paediatric speech pathologist (2 years of prior experience preferrable) to join our team. Your responsibilities will include: 

  •  Provision of high-quality evidence-based assessment and treatment across a broad clinical range of practice including speech, language, fluency, literacy, multimodal/AAC, swallowing and voice. 

  • Working with clients and their families to set goals, and develop intervention plans that can be integrated into the client's routine and play at their home and/or educational setting. 

  • Providing comprehensive, functional and detailed reports to clients and relevant professionals. 

  • Collaboration with other professionals as required including GP’s, Paediatricians, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, AHA’s and Educators. 

  • Delivering group based or individual therapies via face to face and Telehealth services. 

  • Outreach to our surrounding areas, including home visits, pre-schools/schools as required. 

  • You may be required to present on various speech pathology areas formally to an audience. 

  • Providing reports for the NDIA (prior knowledge of NDIA is beneficial, however support will be offered to the successful candidate). 

  • Supervision to be provided to junior staff may be required.

GROWTH.

  • You will receive quarantined supervision. 

  • We conduct monthly EBP/case conference chats for clinicians to present a complex client for debriefing or latest evidence. 

  • We hold bi-monthly meetings for both adult and paediatric clinicians to discuss operational and clinical related topics.

  • We hold quarterly culture & engagement meetings where clinicians have an open forum opportunity to raise concerns and make suggestions for improvements.

  • We have full admin support, so clinicians can focus solely on their clinical work.

NEW CLINIC. 

  • We have a fabulous new clinic in the heart of Port Macquarie’s medical precinct. Our space is comfortable and inviting whilst providing close access to the private hospital and other medical professionals allowing ample opportunity for multidisciplinary practice.

  • We are a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

  • Our clinic is bright and colourful and newly decorated with comfortable furniture and plants.

  • Your caseload is YOURS to develop & control. 

  • Like working in paediatrics but also have an interest in adult practice? We have senior Speech Pathologists in both paediatric and adult practice and can negotiate up-skilling in this area. RESOURCES.

Essential criteria: 

  • Current practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia (or eligible) with Certified Practicing Speech Pathology status.

  • Experience or willingness to assess and treat children’s speech and language difficulties.

  • Ability to establish rapport with children and be fun!

  • Current Working with Children’s Check and Police Check.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team

  • Current unencumbered driver’s licence and ability to use your own car to do preschool/school/home visits as required
