About the opportunity

The Subacute Unit at Werribee Mercy Hospital is a multidisciplinary team unit that provides care for people recovering from an acute illness. We foster strong teamwork environment, enabling us to provide optimal care for all our patients. We have a strong commitment to our staff education, and ongoing professional development, offering access to regular in-services as well as a broad range of study days.

  • Part-time fixed term (until August 2025) 56 hours per fortnight

  • Subacute care is a multidisciplinary approach, where we focus primarily on patient’s functional status, and quality of life, rather than the underlying medical diagnosis.

  • The role of the Registered Nurse is to provide quality client-focused care to the patient, their families, and carers utilising a holistic approach.

  • Act as a role model, and practice within the core values of Mercy Health

  • Form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, and will be required to provide highly responsive and flexible service to consumers, and carers, while upholding a high level of professionalism

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Excellent clinical and communication skills with a focus on providing quality care and quality outcomes

  • Recent experience in acute or subacute nursing

  • FIM credentialed desirable

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

 

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
