Our Values

Relationships:

Acknowledging the significance of relationships within our therapeutic approach underscores our commitment to nurturing the bond between parents/caregivers and their children. These meaningful connections embody trust, security, support, and empathy, fostering an environment where children can flourish and grow with confidence. Moreover, placing emphasis on the relationship between the therapist and the child cultivates a sense of safety and security during sessions, facilitating optimal learning and active engagement.

Development:

By considering developmental stages, therapists engage with children whilst respecting and acknowledging their individual developmental progress. This approach allows therapists to tailor goals and sessions to precisely address each child's distinct needs, ensuring a customised and effective therapeutic journey.

Individuality:

Recognizing the uniqueness of every child, we prioritise effective support by honouring their individual interests, needs, and preferences. This approach is fundamental not only for fostering engagement but also for instilling a sense of security during sessions, empowering each child to thrive within the therapeutic environment.

Playfulness:

At the core of a child's existence lies the essence of play. It’s how they learn best! Emphasising fun and positive experiences within sessions underscores the pivotal role of play-based therapy, ensuring continuous engagement and fostering significant advancements for children.

Staff Development and Supervision:

At SdW Therapy we provide a tailored supervision program to suit your needs. We believe each of our staff have individual needs and develop at a different rate, therefore a one size fits all ‘program’ is not provided. What is provided is supervision to suit your needs from our director who has over 15 years of experience in the industry, and our external clinical supervisor who is a leader in the field and is just super amazing!

This combination of internal and external supervision plus professional development will assist you in growing into the clinician you want to become.

Our staff receive supervision from our director who is a qualified Occupational Therapist and Play Therapist.

Our staff also receive external reflective team supervision with a national leader in relationship-based practice

This ensures we keep our commitment to national early childhood intervention best practice guidelines (including strengthening parent capacity, a family-centred approach)

Person Affirming:

At SdWTS we focus on building strong relationships that go beyond diagnostic labels. We work closely with children and their families to understand individual needs. Play is not only an enjoyable activity for children but also a powerful tool for therapeutic engagement. Our therapists design play-based activities tailored to the child's individual preferencesand developmental goals. By incorporating play into our sessions, we create a dynamic and interactive environment that encourages positive interactions and supports the child's overall development. Through these relationships and play, our clinic creates a dynamic and supportive environment, promoting the well-being and overall development of each individual child.
