Job Title:  Generalist Health Worker, Rheumatic Heart Disease (Identified)– Carins QLD

Practice Information:
The practice is located in Cairns and operates two clinics in Manoora and one clinic in Edmonton. This position is based at the Edmonton clinic, some 20 minutes from Cairns and 15 minutes from Manoora by car. The practice provides a wide range of services including chronic disease management, men's health, women, children and maternal health services. There is a range of allied health services provided including dietitian, diabetes educator, optometrist and podiatrist. The practice also provides oral health services on site at Manoora and Edmonton. As part of practice delivery of holistic care, the social and emotional wellbeing program is embedded into each clinic focusing on all aspects of cultural, emotional, environmental, and spiritual wellbeing.

Position Description:
The Generalist Health Worker, Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) works with the RHD team in caring for RHD clients and their families and assists in delivering education and support to families as risk of RHD. More information is available on request.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care with direct experience in the delivery of clinical health care services
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is highly desirable
  • Current and valid Blue card
  • Current driver’s license
