Role Summary:
The Speech Therapist Allied Health Assistant will work under the guidance of a qualified Speech Pathologist to support clients in achieving their communication and swallowing goals. This role involves delivering practical assistance, implementing therapy plans, and assisting with client progress monitoring, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Speech Pathologists to deliver therapy interventions based on individual client goals.
- Assist in implementing communication tools, such as visual aids, AAC devices, or speech exercises.
- Support clients and families in understanding and practicing therapy techniques in everyday settings.
- Prepare resources and materials required for therapy sessions.
- Maintain accurate client records, including session notes and progress updates, in line with Northern Star Support’s policies.
- Provide feedback to the supervising Speech Pathologist on client progress and any observed challenges.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
- Adhere to all relevant NDIS and Northern Star Support guidelines and standards.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Speech Pathology specialization preferred) or equivalent.
- Experience working in a therapy or disability support setting (preferred).
- Knowledge of communication devices and tools, including AAC systems (advantageous).
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
