Radiologists are physicians who specialise in interpreting a wide range of diagnostic imaging tests and procedures or treatments that involve the use of X-rays, ultrasound, and other internal scanning methods. As a consulting physician, radiologists work closely with your GP and other medical experts to diagnose your medical problem or symptom based on images of your body.
Neuroradiologists are specialist radiologists that are involved in diagnosing conditions relating to the spine, neck, head, and central nervous system. These healthcare professionals typically use computed tomography (CT), magnetic resource imaging (MRI) or other scanning technologies to identify a broad variety of problems in these areas. Like most radiologists, neuroradiologists are typically brought in as consultants to help diagnose a patient.
In most cases, neuroradiologists work in larger healthcare facilities such as clinics, private practices and hospitals. A neuroradiology specialist will usually have an additional six years of training after medical school.
