Job Title:   Senior Speech Pathologist – Cairns, Queensland.
                                                            
Hours:  Permanent - Full Time

Practice Information:
This organisation is committed to providing quality therapy services in rural and remote communities in North Queensland and across Australia. With clinics in Cairns, Townsville, Ayr, Charters Towers and Mackay, and an active telehealth service, they are dedicated to efficiently delivering quality therapeutic services effectively for the greatest benefit of clients in urban, regional and rural locations. The organisation offers Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology and Positive Behaviour Support Services in North QLD and via telehealth. This service is a registered NDIS provider.

About the role:
This organisation is seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist:

  • At this level, they will work independently and will be required to exercise independent judgment on routine matters.
  • They will demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and may contribute to workplace education through provision of seminars, lectures or in-services.
  • At this level the Senior Speech Pathologist may be actively involved in quality improvement activities or research, and contributes to the evaluation and analysis of guidelines, policies and procedures applicable to their clinical/professional work.
  • They may be required to provide supervision to discipline specific students and less experienced colleagues.

Key Duties:
Provide and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of high-quality and cost-effective services to all people (i.e. children and adults, their families/carers and significant others, educators, medical professionals) seeking and receiving a service from the practice. This is done collaboratively in accordance with the organisation’s core value of collaboration.

  • The completion of comprehensive and/or specialised assessments (as required) and the development, evaluation and review of individualised plans and reports following company policy and procedures and within specified timeframes.
  • Contribute to the provision and development of contemporary practice advice to people accessing services, such as families and carers as well as professionals, clinical placement students, work experience students, support organisations and educators. This is inclusive of participation in the development and provision of specialist information and training programs for individuals, families and relevant support agencies as required.
  • Contribute to research and the development, implementation and review of policy or program initiatives for the provision of professional services within the organisation.
  • Initiate and participate in personal reflection, professional training and development and continuous improvement activities to maintain skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain client service records in accordance with company policy and procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Development and maintenance of high-quality, open and transparent relationships with referrers to the practice, parents, clients and other stakeholders in the community.
  • Supervision of Allied Health Assistants as part of service delivery through the writing, monitoring and review of Speech Therapy programs to be delivered by Allied Health Assistants. AHAs may also require guidance to develop resources for clients, or for the purposes of service delivery.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary degree or higher qualification from a recognised Tertiary Education Provider in Speech Therapy.
  • Membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • High level of interpersonal skills, including effective communication (written and verbal), negotiation, leadership, conflict resolution and teamwork skills and the ability to provide ideas and solutions clearly to diverse groups of people.
  • Innovative and strategic approach to client service delivery and organisational improvement.
  • The ability to demonstrate and encourage teamwork.
  • Strength in building customer and stakeholder relationships.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
  • Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
  • Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
  • Time management/organisation: accomplish objectives effectively within timeframes given and carry out administrative duties within portfolio in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Commerciality: ability to apply knowledge and skill in a private practice context to ensure that the position remains financially viable.

Salary Information:
$100,000 - $120,000 per annum.
