Grade 2 Occupational Therapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic, fun and motivated experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Paediatric Therapy team at Sweet Paeds Therapy!
 

Our beautiful, newly renovated clinic is based in Pakenham and we are looking to grow our team with a fun, compassionate and caring occupational therapist who will provide specialised care for children.

 

Services provided include (but are not limited to); assessments, therapy intervention, and family support both within the clinic and the community (brand new company car provided for all visits!)

 

The position is flexible with days, and with full time and part time hours available.

 

To be suitable for this position you will;

  • Have a Bachelor Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy (minimum)

  • Hold current full AHPRA registration

  • Have eligibility for or are a current member of Occupational Therapy Australia

  • Have at least 2 years experience working in a paediatric role

  • Motivated and passionate to provide best practice, evidence-based assessment and intervention for infants and young children with developmental delay and disabilities, and support to their families

  • Willingness and enthusiasm to run group therapy programs, school holiday programs, intensive programs and parent education workshops.

  • Willingness to provide supervision to junior OT staff members

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates highly effective written skills during report writing and correspondence with clients, team members and other professionals

  • Ability to work autonomously, demonstrated organisational skills, problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of disability, learning difficulties, sensory processing difficulties, motor skills difficulties, a range developmental conditions, paediatric development

  • Demonstrates knowledge in paediatric occupational therapy practice as well as goal setting and creating therapy intervention programs, and home-based programs

  • Friendly, fun and engaging!

  • Have knowledge of the NDIS

  • Provide current Working with Children Check

  • Provide current National Police check

  • Hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence

  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

The duties of the position (including but are not limited to);

  • Responsible for managing a varied clinical caseload (range of conditions e.g. cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, rare chromosomal abnormalities, down syndrome and more) OR to be able to manage a specialised and complex clinical caseload. 

  • Delivering services both in-clinic and community settings (homes, day care and kindergartens etc.), and delivering Telehealth as required

  • Administering standardised assessments and clinical observations, developing treatment plans and delivering evidence-based paediatric intervention

  • Developing and reviewing treatment goals

  • Liaising with and coordinating care with other treating healthcare professionals, educators, family members and any others

  • Participating in case conferencing with other treating professionals as required

  • Providing evidence-based recommendations and education to parents, family members and relevant educators

  • Evaluating the need for appropriate referrals to other disciplines in order to provide holistic, client-centred care

  • Recording, maintaining and providing accurate, timely documentation of client treatment and progress

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, families, and other team members. Adhering to professional practice requirements, guidelines and legislation.

  • Contributing to clinical team development and educational resources
