ABOUT US
Kevin Heinze Grow (KHG) has been operating for over four decades supporting people of all abilities with the principles of therapeutic horticulture. We deliver evidence-based programs and services in the peaceful, natural environment of a garden setting. Participants primarily work outdoors alongside our highly qualified multidisciplinary team of staff, developing confidence and resilience while engaging in meaningful activities.
KHG closely aligns with a social model of disability and see our role as supporting people as best we can to navigate their lives and the way they wish to engage with others.
THE ROLE
This position is primarily responsible for the provision of speech therapy to people with a disability, many of which are participants in the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The emphasis of this role is the ability to work creatively within KHG's garden environment, incorporating our nature-based setting to deliver high-quality therapeutic outcomes, creating highly individualised creative sessions as determined by the participant.
Key elements of the role include having a strong focus on individuals personal communication goals and preferences and an understanding of how these may change in different settings.
We value and encourage all participants to explore and use their own preferred communication methods whatever that may look like in a variety of settings. Through working alongside participants in the KHG program as well as individual sessions these opportunities can be extended.
Our speech pathologist has the unique opportunity to support and create opportunities for the broader KHG staff team to gain confidence to use a variety of communication techniques within our programs to enhance inclusivity.
KHG is a highly collaborative environment which includes involvement and input into KHG program development with a key focus on individual needs and evolving techniques related to communication inclusivity.
