Pristine beaches, mesmerizing coasts, mystical mountains, enchanting valleys, meandering rivers, picturesque towns, bountiful plains and the great red rugged outback – a melange of landscapes, seascapes, flora and fauna make Australia’s oldest and most populated state, New South Wales, or NSW, one of the most unique places in the world. All crowned by a glitzy, vibrant and intoxicating metropolis, Sydney – the unforgettable cosmopolitan capital and cultural hub of NSW.

NSW is bordered by Queensland, Victoria and South Australia to the north, south and west respectively, with an eastern coast lined by the Tasman Sea. NSW encloses the Australian Capital Territory. It covers an area of 800,642 square kilometres and is home to a diverse population of 7.74 million. NSW is an economic powerhouse, with an economy larger than Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Globally ranking universities, vocational institutions and research organisations deliver cutting edge, industry-relevant education in NSW. Located within Sydney are University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, University of Technology Sydney, Western Sydney University and Australian Catholic University. While University of Newcastle, University of Wollongong, University of New England, Charles Sturt University and Southern Cross University operate around the state.
