Nambucca Family Medical
Nambucca Family Medical was opened in 1998 in rooms located in Estuary Lane. Forced to close to new patients within six months, due to only having 1 GP operating at the time and an extremely high demand on GP services in the area, the recruitment for additional doctors for the practice began.
After two attempts and five years of planning and designing, a federal government grant was obtained to build a new more comprehensive medical centre. It was planned the centre would house both the GP practice, as well as rooms for specialists and allied health providers to visit on a regular basis in order that they could provide access to their services locally in collaboration with local doctors.
After a visit from local member Luke Hartsuker construction began, and in November 2007 the completed Nambucca Healthcare Centre opened it’s doors.
From it’s inception the Nambucca Healthcare Centre was designed to cover as many aspects of healthcare as possible in the one central location, improving convenience of access to health services for locals as well as improving management of care through collaboration between providers.
