About Us:

History:

For over 50 years our family general practice has provided quality health care to local hills residents and the wider community. Blackwood Clinic is a fully accredited general practice with 13 experienced General Practitioners. At Blackwood Clinic our doctors provide a complete and personal approach to patients' medical needs with a focus on preventative medicine and active health promotion. Our nursing team work in close collaboration under the guidance of our GPs to deliver this quality service.

Appointments:

We are an appointment based practice. You can make an appointment by calling reception on 8278 6666. A standard appointment is 15 minutes. If you need a longer appointment (for example, if you have several issues you would like to discuss) please let the receptionist know at the time of booking. If you need to cancel or are running late, please let us know. 

New patients are welcome and will be required to complete a new patient form prior to the appointment so please arrive 5 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment time. All new patients require a long appointment of 30 minutes. If you wish to have your medical records transferred from your previous medical practice please ask our reception staff for a transfer of records form.

In an emergency, we will assist in assessing the most appropriate course of action.

Fees & Payments:

We are a private billing practice. This allows us to maintain our high standard of care. Our common fee schedule is available at reception upon request or alternately in the Fees section of our website. Payment in full is expected at the completion of your appointment. Please talk to the reception team about receiving Medicare rebates directly into your bank account. 

Children 15 years or younger will be provided with bulk billing services.

DVA, Pension, Commonwealth Seniors and Health Care Card Holders will be bulk billed under normal circumstances upon presentation of a valid card. Please note however some specialised treatments eg excisions, implants etc will attract a gap payment and should be discussed with the treating doctor.

Results & Recalls:

All results are reviewed by the doctors. We have a computerised follow-up and recall system. If you do not wish to be automatically placed in our recall system, please let us know.

Privacy:

Your medical record is confidential and private. We will not release any information to a third party without your prior consent, except as required by law. All staff sign a confidentiality clause as part of their employment conditions.
