Hip to Toe
At Hip to Toe your structural podiatrist specialises in identifying painful structural and alignment problems and correcting them using hands on adjustments.
Have you been given orthotics in the past?
Or been told the only way to treat the problem is with surgery or medication?
This will not happen at Hip To Toe.
Our podiatrists are trained to treat structural problems without using orthotics, medication or referring for surgery.

What can you expect?
At your initial consultation your highly experienced Podiatrist will talk to you about the nature of your problems and concerns. The aim of this consultation is to find the root cause of your symptoms and find an effective treatment solution for you.
In order to do this we will:
- Take a full history of what problems you are having now and have had in the past
- Take a full history of any previous treatments you have tried
- Ascertain what makes your problem worse and what makes it better
- Ascertain if your work or social activities are contributing to your symptoms
- Carry out a number of structural and alignment tests to find where your problems lie
- Request x-rays if necessary
- Answer all your questions and concerns in a friendly and supportive environment
If we need x-rays to help with the identification and treatment of your problem we will organise a follow up appointment to review the x-rays together.
At your follow up consultation we will identify where your structural problems lie and outline a course of treatment that is right for you.
Why do we use x-rays?
X-rays show if there are any breaks or fractures in the bones, identify arthritic problems, and show spurs, lumps and bumps.
They are also the quickest and most effective way of finding structural problems.
When the joints are sitting in the wrong positions an x-ray will show where they are out of position and by how much.
These x-rays show a variety of problems that we just can not see with the naked eye. We see there are heel spurs, arthritic changes and a considerable flattening of the foot leading to tearing and straining of the muscles and tissues.
The x-rays allow a precise measurement of how much the joints have moved out of position. This gives us a clear starting point to work from.
Treatment
Once we have identified where your structure and alignment is out of position we will use gentle hands on mobilisations and manipulations to move the joints into better, stronger positions.
With every adjustment we will:
- Move the joints towards their ideal range.
- Increase the range of movement of the joints.
- Break down arthritic restrictions and reduce arthritic development.
- Increase the production of synovial fluid which enables the joints to glide better.
- Stop the muscles and tissues from tearing and straining from overuse.
- Free the restrictions within the connective tissues.
- Increase blood flow into the feet and legs.
- Take the pressure off the nerves.
Exercises
In addition to your adjustments there will be exercises to improve and maintain the results we achieve at each adjustment.
The exercises are tailored for you and when used in conjunction with your treatment program will ensure we achieve the best results for you.
Your exercises are designed to:
- Strengthen your muscles
- Stretch your tissues
- Improve your balance and coordination
- Free off any restrictions in your muscles and joints
Reviewing your progress
Reviews are an important part of your journey and will ensure we are on track with your treatment and the results you want to achieve.
We will request follow up x-rays at appropriate intervals to monitor the changes we are achieving for you.
If you have any questions about your treatment we can arrange reviews to go over your questions in a relaxed manner to ensure you are 100% comfortable and confident that you are being well taken care of.
