Drawing on the years of experience and diverse expertise of our team of Special Education Consultants, Psychologists, experienced Teachers and Allied Health Therapists, we offer a holistic approach to meeting your child's needs. We select the best of the evidence-based programs and methods available, offering comprehensive customised and individualised programs that are created specifically to meet the needs of your child.
The following educational services are currently offered;
Assessments
Comprehensive educational assessments are offered to identify a student's academic strengths and areas of need. When combined with our psychological assessments, the educational assessments may assist in diagnosing Specific Learning Disorders (such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia) as well as providing detailed information to assist in designing of an individualised learning program. The following educational assessments are offered;
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Combined Literacy and Numeracy
- School Readiness
Academic Intervention Programs
Comprehensive individualised intervention programs are offered in the following areas;
- Reading, including phonological awareness, decoding, whole word reading, reading fluency and reading comprehension
- Writing, including spelling, sentence, paragraph and extended writing
- Numeracy, including basic concept knowledge, numerical operations and problem solving
- Essay writing and study skills
- School readiness programs for preschool age children (4-5 year olds)
A PosAbility Intervention Program could include;
- Designing an individualised literacy and/or numeracy program implemented one to five days per week at the clinic or in the school setting (* based on negotiations with the school), with one of our specialised special educators and/or experienced teachers
- Designing, Setting up and monitoring of individualised literacy and/or numeracy programs to be implemented at school with trained staff provided by the school
- Designing and monitoring of individualised literacy and/or numeracy programs by one of our Special Education Consultants, implemented at a student's school or home by one of our trained outreach tutors.
Consultancy, Advocacy and Training
Our Psychologist and Special Education Consultants are available to review a child's educational progress and learning support. This may include;
- Meeting with Parents to review previous assessments and interventions and set future goals
- Meet with Teachers to advocate for a child, set learning goals and create Individualised Learning Programs and/or plans
- Training parents, tutors or school staff in designing and implementation of an Individualised literacy and/or numeracy program
- Monitoring the implementation of individualised programs
