About

My name is Sue McKenzie and I have been working as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist since 1999. Before moving to Australia, I worked in South African physiotherapy practices dealing with a range of sports injuries and musculoskeletal injuries.

I underwent postgraduate training in Maitland, Mulligan, Hunter and general orthopaedic manual therapies and was involved in lecturing and training of the postgraduate Orthopaedic Manual Therapy course.

More recently in 2015 and 2016 I have been studying the thorax and pelvis under the tuition of Dr LJ Lee, following the Connect Therapy assessment and treatment framework. The whole body is assessed to find which muscles are overactive or tight and which areas need to be strengthened, so as to restore balance and stability.

My passion is to get people back to activity – I enjoy assessing the whole body to solve recurring injuries or to recondition a general weak body, so that you can return to your sport or exercise.

My other areas of expertise include post surgical orthopaedic rehabilitation in and out of hospital, including joint replacements and traumatic injuries. I enjoy resolving work related injuries, ergonomic and postural correction as well as stress related pain and dysfunction.

I deal with the general aches and pains of everyday life, I aim to get you pain-free and moving as soon as possible. I love having a range of different clients with differing complaints, so whatever is bothering you, I would love to help you. I am passionate about working with you to discover the root cause of your pains and using my skills to bring you short and long term relief and improvement.

Qualifications: BSc Physiotherapy 1999 UCT, Registered with AHPRA 2008

My philosophy to healing

I believe our bodies are constantly in the process of repairing themselves and although they have an incredible ability to heal, sometimes they need a little help.

Repetitive poor movement patterns are subconcious but may be hampering your body’s ability to heal itself. This is where I believe physiotherapy can help. By identifying what is too tight and overactive, as well as what is too weak and underactive, we can loosen the tight structures and strengthen the weak structures to give the body the window of opportunity it needs to heal itself.

So if you feel your body is causing you pain and stiffness, let us assess you to return balance to the structures and prevent further injury.
