Call The Doctor is an exciting new service providing innovative primary care and help to meet the needs of the community of Hobart. We are a solely mobile service that attends urgent afterhours calls within our catchment area of approximately 50 suburbs. We provide high quality in-home medical care in a timely manner to patients that book appointments with us. Patients ring our call centre, are triaged by trained staff and referred to Healthdirect Australia as required. Our doctor's do a secondary triage of the patients and visit them at their home or institution. If appropriate appointments are made and the driver/doctor teams then attend promptly. Doctors will review patients while the driver / chaperone assists them with paper work. We provide our doctors with a fully stocked doctor's bag that has a range of commonly used medications and required instruments to provide a range of medical services from simple advice and reassurance to dressings, wound care or injectable medications. After each patient our doctors write clinical notes that are sent to the patients GP's for continuity of care.
Call The Doctor provides coverage of the entire afterhours period 365 days/year
Monday to Friday before 8:00am and after 6:00pm.
Saturdays before 8:00am and after 12:00pm.
All day Sundays and public holidays.

The service benefits the community in many ways including;
Reducing the unnecessary presentations to the emergency department at the Royal Hobart Hospital and relieving the stress on other service providers in the community.
We provide the community with access to affordable afterhour's primary health care which is beneficial for the patients that use the service such as the elderly, single mothers with kids and the disabled which cannot currently access this afterhour's. The consultations are bulk billed if the patient has a valid Medicare or DVA card.
We are a socially responsible business and as such we will be giving back to the community of Hobart through various charitable organisations.
