BAMS Aboriginal Medical Service (‘BAMS’) have been delivering medical services for the last 22 years, our Mission is to ensure that the future sustainability of the Business using strong and professional governance and social innovation as primary tools; to broaden the scope both as a consultative agency and a primary health care facilitator by delivering positive health outcomes and developing innovative community health and support programs. BAMS fundamental community goal is to fulfill the health and medical needs of communities in rural and isolated areas of New South Wales (both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal).
BAMS’s Mission is to promote a holistic approach to health care within the Communities where BAMS is based, as well as developing new medical services in other geographic areas, using the unique BAMS model of service delivery.
BAMS’s primary focus remains on preventative health education and chronic disease management, including delivery of a range of community-based Outreach programs, using primary health care, specialist and allied health services.
BAMS will strive to work effectively and efficiently in addressing priorities established by the Board of Directors of the Corporation, made up of both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal members, as well as providing services for the broader community, also drawing on feedback from, and consultation with, the community.
BAMS continues to operate Medical Services in Gulargambone and Dubbo, (Western New South Wales) as well as Medical Clinics in Gilgandra (near Gulargambone) while the Mid North Coast, region of New South Wales is serviced by BAMS’s Clinics at Nambucca Heads, Macksville and the Bawrunga Coffs Harbour GP Super Clinic. In this way, BAMS continues to play our key role in provision of local employment and training opportunities, including those for local Aboriginal people.
