Based in Geelong, we are a small female led business providing highly personalised and tailored NDIS supports to those in the Geelong Community & Surrounds. We service all the way up to Werribee, and down to St Leonards.

My name is Shay, (Director) a young Neurodivergent woman, who knows first hand what its like to grow up in a world that isn’t designed for our brains. Knowing this, I spent my life fighting tooth and nail for accomodations, and found my favourite quote, “if doors aren’t opening for you, go through the window”. I’m a big advocate of going through the window!

I spent my childhood thinking I was alone, that I was born ‘weird’ and ‘different’ and that I wasn’t cut out for this world. Come to find out, I was different, and that was totally okay. I just hadn’t found my footing yet in world that felt really scary. That’s the aim of First Step Support Services, to be the ‘cool girls’ in your corner, to help you make your own space in the world.

I dedicated my later teen years to study and working in the Mental Health Sector - long before I knew I was neurodivergent.

Our team comprises of a select few incredible women, who are either Neurodivergent themselves, or bring close personal lived experience to the table, offering a unique perspective when it comes to the supports they offer. They are soft spoken but hold firm boundaries (perfect for the feisty new teen) and can be patient and understanding.

I also never wanted to be a ‘hidden’ business owner. I always make my best effort to meet with families and participants, and I am always contactable. You won’t have to ring a phone number, be redirected, to get a new number, to email, to leave a message, and go around & around in circles. I’m right there when you need me.
