MEDICAL SERVICES
We treat all skin, hair and nail conditions. Examples of common conditions that we treat include acne, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss (alopecia), sun spots and skin cancers. A combination of modalities is often employed to treat skin conditions effectively.



UVB PHOTOTHERAPY (whole body and localised hand/foot)
This can be used to treat a number of disorders, in particular eczema, psoriasis and vitiligo.

CRYOTHERAPY
Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen is often used to remove benign skin lesions simply and effectively.

PATCH TESTING
Patch testing is used to elucidate the causative allergen in allergic contact dermatitis. We utilise the Australian Baseline Series and can access specialised workplace series such as hairdressing and woodwork allergens.

MEDICAL BOTOX
Botox injections are a novel approach to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and painful jaw clenching with very good results and minimal discomfort.

The cost of Botox injections for severe, primary axillary hyperhidrosis is now subsidised by the PBS and Medicare when performed by a dermatologist. Patients must be over the age of 12 and have not responded/or been intolerant to topical aluminum chloride (e.g. Driclor). Injections are usually well tolerated however a topical anaesthetic can be applied 1 hour prior to reduce any discomfort. It takes 7-10 days to notice a reduction in sweating and the results usually last for 3-6 months.

INTRALESIONAL STEROID INJECTIONS
Used to treat various conditions, in particular alopecia areata and keloid scarring.

TELEHEALTH
We are pleased to offer video consultations for patients living outside metropolitan Adelaide, or in nursing homes, for whom attending face-to-face consultations can be difficult.

FEES FOR ABOVE: Bay Dermatology is a private provider of Dermatology services. As a private provider we charge a gap fee for our services above what Medicare reimburses. You need a referral from your GP to be entitled to a Medicare rebate. Gap fees charged by Bay Dermatology are needed to provide quality Dermatology services. Unfortunately private health insurance does not cover the cost of outpatient consultations or procedures. Full payment on the day is required and payments may be made by Cash, Cheque, EFTPOS, Mastercard or Visa.

PLEASE NOTE: If you cannot attend your appointment, please inform us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment, otherwise you may be charged a late cancellation fee of $80. If you miss your appointment (without notifying us) you may be charged a non-attendance fee of $120.
