Profile Summary
Hello! If you have landed here, just know that you are already doing the work. The awareness that something is no longer working for you is there. Now to find the right person to help you along this incredible path towards feeling more whole and at peace. Here is a little about me so you get an idea of who you will be walking this path with you.
Let's get the official study and qualifications out of the way. I completed the Bachelor of Science (Psychology & Psychophysiology) from 2006 until 2009 at Swinburne University. There was also one year of industry based learning in that timeframe where I worked in a respiratory lab at the Royal Melbourne Hospital for one year full time. Following that I continued employment there as a Sleep technician for the remainder of my studies. I won't ever forget those night shifts! Then I completed the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology at The University of Melbourne in 2010. This was a scholarship because that's how serious I was in my undergraduate years. All study and no play... and it really showed. Burnout would be an understatement. From 2011 until 2012 I completed the Master of Clinical Psychology at the Australian Catholic University. This was where the magic happened. This is where I was introduced to mindfulness based therapies, I started 'the work' myself and uncovered a whole lot of other holistic therapies to help me back to equilibrium. After all of that, I am now registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold an AHPRA Area of Practice Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist. I've also completed training to be recognised as a Board Approved Supervisor. I have also completed 50 hours of Yin Yoga training, which offers some incredible somatic emotional releases.
What you won't see on paper is that I continue to live and breathe all that I have learned and continue to learn. I don't think I'm 'passionate' about this work, it's just a way of being. This is the work that I'm meant to do. There are several approaches to this work, and I resonate most with Dr Gordon Neufeld's approach, which is focused on the core aspects of what it means to be a human being. By having a deep understanding of human development and what we all need to develop well... as well as the things that stunt our inevitable development which 'traps' emotion in the body, we can learn ways to free that stuck emotion so we can live in peace.
I work with adults and teens. I won't list the various diagnoses because I do not work within that model but if you are struggling with something, I would be honoured to be a part of this experience with you. I used to work with children directly but I don't do that anymore. The true power lies with the parents so if you have a child who you are concerned about, I'm more than happy to work with you, as you are the answer for your child.
Finally, what I love more than this work are my two young boys and husband. So most of my time is currently dedicated to them, which means I'm playing a whole lot! I truly look forward to meeting with you if that is what you decide.
