Profile Summary
Hi there, I'm Mikaela, and I am the proud owner of Wildflower Kids Therapy.

It was always my dream to open my own practice, and with almost a decade of experience working as an Occupational Therapist (and a lot of time working out how my own brain works!), I decided to dedicate all my learning and effort to a service that fosters pride and confidence in children.

2021 was a special year. My identity grew, and I became a Mum to a little boy named Taron. His huge personality and sensitive soul challenge me to grow every day, and I'm grateful for all the lessons in compassion, patience, and trust. These lessons and passion are what led me to create Wildflower Kids Therapy.

I can describe a lot of my practice values through two quotes:
"Kids don't learn from people they don't like." - Rita Pierson
"Children learn more from what you are then what you teach." - W.E.B. Dubois

By being authentic, honest, curious, and giving children space and time, a truly magical space opens up where I have the power to influence a child's learning and development through friendship and positive role modelling.

My goal isn't to teach your children how to have the perfect pencil grip; it's to help them see value in written expression and be intrinsically motivated to practice.

My goal isn't to teach your children to make eye contact and do "good listening"; it's to show them the value in human connection and friendships.

Working with neurodivergent children is something truly magical. I find it incredibly rewarding to help children be their best, most authentic selves and to witness them achieve, learn and grow with a glimmer in their eyes.
