Karuna Hospice Service (KHS) is a Specialist Community Palliative Care Service founded on the Buddhist Philosophy of kindness and compassion. This service provides person and family centred home-based compassionate specialised palliative care to patients with active, progressive, and advanced disease, who have little or no prospect of a cure.


The service is delivered by a specialist palliative multi-disciplinary team (MDT) that includes clinical nurses, a part-time medical officer and a family support team consisting of social workers, counsellors and spiritual care worker. The team members work in collaboration with the patients GP and/or specialist to provide holistic, integrative nursing and medical care and practical, social, emotional, and spiritual care at no cost to the patient and their families.
