Weston Medical Centre
Weston Medical Centre is a small family orientated practice that opened its doors to our community in June 2018. We are known as the “old fruit shop “by the locals. The practice was purchased by Dr Ann Fernando and Dr Yasas Samarasinghe and has been tastefully renovated and furnished to accommodate the needs of a general family practice.
The Weston bus stop of the Cessnock – Maitland bus route is within 10 metres of the practice if patients are using public transport. If patients choose to drive, we have a dedicated car park for their use. We have parking available at the door and disability friendly access to our entrance.
Our demographic is vast, with a total of about 4638 active patients. We have a high number of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders, and elderly patients with complex needs.
Our practice provides comprehensive General Practice care and has special interests including Chronic
Disease Management, identifying and offering our service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
(Closing the Gap/Health Assessments) and providing holistic care to the general community without bias or prejudice.
We have a fully equipped dedicated treatment room, 4 consultation rooms, and Laverty
Pathology collects from our location. We are supported by 2 Registered Nurses, a Practice Manager, and 4 reception staff.
The practice is owned by Dr Yasas Samarasinghe and Dr Ann Fernando, a young, vibrant husband and wife team and they are supported by 2 RN's, a Practice Manager and 4 Support Staff.
Our practice is close to public and private schools with good reputations and there are many many job openings for family members who may also be looking for work.
We are fully computerised with Best Practice software and accredited with AGPAL until April 2026.
