Profile Summary
In 2013 Elysium Psychology was established to improve the mental health of individuals.

Research suggests that mental health literacy aids the recognition, management, and prevention of mental illness.

Through training, consultation and psychological services Elysium Psychology Pty Ltd aims to:

Improve individuals mental health literacy for the prevention of mental health issues

Improve recognition of mental illness or the development of mental health disorders

Increase individuals knowledge of help-seeking options and treatments available

Expand knowledge of effective self-help strategies for less severe mental health issues

Provide treatment to those affected by mental health problems

In 2019 Elysium Psychology expanded the team to include additional clinicians at our Ascot Vale site.

2020 and 2021 were difficult years with the COVID pandemic influencing our work. The clinical and business teams pivoted with such grace and agility to provide clients with telehealth services during some very difficult times, especially in Melbourne, Victoria.

The Greensborough site opened in November 2020 to meet the ever growing need and the team further expanded to meet that need.

July 2022, saw the Brunswick site opening and the Ascot Vale offices moved into this space.

As it stands in 2023, the Elysium Psychology Clinical team stands at 30+ psychologists and counsellors and the client services team of eight plus our marketing and social media assistant all working to service the ever growing need for quality mental health services.

Our director and Principal Psychologist, Katy Dib aims to meet the ever growing need for high quality mental health services. Katy supports the next generation of psychologists as an AHPRA - Psychology Board Approved Supervisor, also through academic partnerships with Latrobe and Monash University to provide quality placements for their Masters students, and through internship programs. She also commits to deepening the community knowledge of mental health through health promotion in the community and social media.

Elysium Psychology will continue to provide an excellent standard of therapeutic services to clients and organisations with the aim to identify, manage and treat mental health issues.

Our Dragonfly Logo
Elysium Psychology Pty Ltd chose the dragonfly as our logo as it represents the attributes of an individual that we value and wish to develop.

Maturity and a depth of character
The dragonfly symbolises change in perspective through self development; the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity.

Traditionally Dragonflies are associated with water. The Dragonfly's scurrying flight across water represents an act of going beyond what is conscious and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life.

Power and poise
The dragonfly's agile flight and its ability to move in all six directions exude a sense of power and poise - something that comes only with age and maturity.

The dragonfly can move at an amazing 70 kms an hour, hover like a helicopter, fly backwards like a hummingbird, fly straight up, down and on either side. What is extraordinary about this is it can do this while flapping its wings a mere 30 times a minute while mosquitoes and houseflies need to flap their wings 600 and 1000 times a minute respectively.

An awe inspiring aspect of the dragonfly is how it accomplishes its objectives with utmost simplicity, effectiveness and power.

Defeat of self created illusions
The dragonfly exhibits iridescence both on its wings as well as on its body. Iridescence is the property of an object to show itself in different colors depending on the angle and polarization of light falling on it.

This property is seen and believed as the end of one's self created illusions and a clear vision into the realities of life.

The magical property of iridescence is also associated with the discovery of one's own abilities by unmasking the real self and removing the doubts one casts on his/her own sense of identity. This again indirectly means self discovery and removal of inhibitions.

Focus on living ‘IN' the moment
A dragonfly normally lives most of its life as a nymph or an immature. It flies only for a fraction of its life and usually not more than a few months. This adult dragonfly does it all in these few months and leaves nothing to be desired.

This style of life symbolises and exemplifies the virtue of living IN the moment and living life to the fullest.

By living in the moment you are aware of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, what you want, what you don't and make informed choices on a moment-to-moment basis.

The opening of one's eyes
The eyes of the dragonfly are one of the most amazing features. Given almost 80% of the insect's brain power is dedicated to its sight and the fact that it can see in all 360 degrees around it, it symbolises the uninhibited vision of the mind and the ability to see beyond the limitations of the human self.
