Arche Health is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and a registered charity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. We are a GP member based organisation with a well established history in service quality in the southern metropolitan region of Perth, Western Australia. The organisation has previously operated under the trading names of the Canning Division of General Practice and The Bentley-Armadale Medicare Local. The organisation was founded on June 1999 with Commonwealth Government funding through the establishment of local Divisions of General Practices. These organisations were set up across Australia to provide a voice and an identity for local GPs. The current organisations name "Arche" stems from the Greek term (ἀρχή) that denotes primary senses "beginning", "origin" or "source of action" or "first principle". The term was first used by Pre-Socretic Greek philosopher Anaximander.
