History
The Balwyn Health Care clinic has been providing support to the independent doctors since 1986 at another site opposite Coles on the corner of Kilby and Burke Rds. It soon became apparent that a larger site was needed and in 1991 it was relocated to the existing site in Belmore Rd. The great advantage of the new site was the significant increase in available car parking and the light, spacious waiting room area. The clinic was completely rebuilt in 2012.
Dr. Mary-Anne Lancaster joined the clinic in 1991 and she quickly developed a significant patient base. Further independent doctors now also practice from this site which now has a total of nearly twenty personnel including the members of a friendly and helpful reception team, Kitsa, Gina, Kristin, Marie, Lindy, Rebekah, Val and Kellie. There are also four practice nurses, Julia, Jane, Ellie and Sarah.
In April 2013, the doctors of Kilby Heights Medical Centre ( Doctors Savvas, Kondopoulos and Cocotis) also moved to this site.
Balwyn Health Care became fully accredited by AGPAL (Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited) in 2001 which means all independent doctors, nurses and receptionists offer a high standard of medical care.
The doctors and administrative staff are fully computerised so that all medical records are detailed and comprehensive, legible and easily transferrable. They are secure and backed up multiple ways on a daily basis.
Aim
The independent doctors at Balwyn Health Care aim to provide high quality, thorough, comprehensive, holistic and caring consultations for each and every patient. Consultation costs will always be kept affordable for all sections of the community. They focus heavily on preventitive health issues and so follow up care is an important feature of our service.
Patients seeking management through medication only will find our aim is to minimise the use of drugs where possible. The doctors' aim is to help patients focus on assuming responsibility for their own health decisions and make lifestyle improvements where possible.
The reception team undergo regular training in order to assist appropriately every patient with every enquiry.
