At Malvern Medical Centre our goal is to offer high-quality, individualised and affordable health care for you and your family.
History
Drs Ceri (a Welsh Gaelic name pronounced Kerry), Andrew and Richard Goodwin are brothers who have owned and operated the medical centre since the mid 1990s. The centre now has seventeen vocationally registered doctors working over two sites.
The surgery has its roots in a local practice that has cared for people in the Malvern/Unley and surrounding areas for over 80 years.
Unley Branch
Main Building
In the year 2000, the practice moved from a bungalow on nearby Opey Avenue to its current, much larger, premises on Unley Road. In the mid 2000s, the practice further expanded into an adjacent shop adding another three rooms to the centre.
Today, the main building offers eight generous sized consulting rooms (including a dedicated treatment room), a comfortable waiting room and a modern reception area and ample on-site, as well as adjacent off-site car parking.
The Cottage
In 2012, a second building, The Cottage (75 Fairford St, Unley), was added to the practice behind the main centre. With the partial assistance of a Federal Government grant, this character cottage was fully renovated and converted into a dedicated Medical and Allied Health facility. In addition to Dr Janet Sinclair, who consults in this building, we also host a Podiatrist, Psychologists, an Audiometrist and Cardiac Services (ECHO, ECG, heart monitor).
The Bungalow
In 2020 a third building, which we have dubbed, The Bungalow (73 Fairford St, Unley) was acquired. The Bungalow is next door to the Cottage. The two front rooms were renovated and the building has been used extensively as our vaccination centre during the COVID pandemic and for Flu Clinics.
More recently we have added dedicated Care Planning and Health Assessment clinics to the activities conducted in this building.
Hawthorn Branch
80 Belair Rd
In 2020 we expanded with the opening of the Hawthorn Branch surgery at 80 Belair Road.
In addition to the doctors who consult at Hawthorn we also host a Podiatrist and a Physiotherapist.
Please note that all Saturday consultations are at our Hawthorn Branch. Unley Branch is not open on Saturday or Sunday.
We look forward to welcoming our patients to both branches.
Parking
There is ample parking for patients at 199 Unley Rd immediately adjacent to the main building, the Cottage and nearby. This parking comprises the on-site car park between the main centre and the Cottage, including a dedicated disabled car park for permit holders and off-site street parking of one and four hours duration in Fairford St along the side of the main building and the front of the Cottage and Bungalow.
Additionally there is parking of one hour duration on the eastern and western sides of Unley Rd at the front of the main building and across the road other than during clearway and bicycle lane hours, and one hour parking in Hart St directly opposite the main building, across Unley Rd.
The entrance to the main centre is on the northern side of the building.
Similarly there is plenty of parking at 80 Belair Rd comprising the on-site car park adjacent to the building entrance, including a dedicated disabled car park for permit holders and off-site street parking of 30 minute and unlimited duration in Devonshire St.
Additionally there is parking of one hour duration on the eastern and western sides of Belair Rd, other than during clearway and bicycle lane hours.
