About Us

Toowoomba Medical Centre began as a solo general practice situated in a little cottage and grandly named as the original ‘Toowoomba Medical Centre' in 1985.

Dr Peter Schindler purchased the practice in 1991 and remained as practice principal until February 2023. The practice changed hands and Daniel (Tappies) and Welma Joubert, the new managers, are committed to continue on the foundations built by Dr Schindler, and to honour his legacy of service. The practice will recruit independent doctors who listen, care and take the time to get to know their patients.

In 2007 the practice growth and patient demand necessitated a bigger building. After rezoning the area, and with much consultation with health providers in Australia and around the world, a new state of the art health facility was built. In July 2009, with a lot of love and care behind the scenes, the new medical centre was opened.

The facility still allows for more doctors and nurses to attend to the needs of the local community and provides opportunities for allied health professionals and other providers to visit the community.

Patient care is further supported by co-location of Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology, MacDonaldtown Pharmacy and Hope Horizons.
