SUCCESS COMES FROM THE POWER OF COLLABORATION.
The Australian Prostate Centre began with a vision that no man should die from prostate cancer. We are uniquely dedicated to connecting research, education, diagnosis, treatment and support for the benefit of all Australian men and their families. We are making progress in the diagnosis, treatment and care for men with prostate cancer, working towards our vision: No Man Dies Of Prostate Cancer.
We contribute, help facilitate and support evidence based clinical research here in Australia and around the world.
We house the world's biggest tissue bank and share the knowledge and clinical implications with the rest of the world.
We educate with industry publications, fellowship programs and standard setting guidelines.
And we bring the world's best and brightest to Australia for the Prostate Cancer Congress every year to debate, share and explore best practice.
That unique alliance of minds, skills and commitment is carried into every day of our clinical work at APC in Melbourne.
APC operates as a not for profit entity with DRG status and registration with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission.
OUR STORY
The Australian Prostate Centre began in 2012 as Australian Prostate Cancer Research a clear research mission to develop diagnostic tests, new therapies, and identify genetic markers in prostate cancer. Since then we have developed groundbreaking initiatives under our three pillars research, education and clinical delivery.
The first Prostate Cancer Conference we ran in 2000 had 25 delegates. Today the Prostate Cancer World Congress and Asia-Pacific Conference have over 1000 delegates each, with attendance from over 35 countries.
We have opened the Australian Prostate Centre in North Melbourne, our flagship for best practice in clinical delivery in prostate cancer. After a massive fundraising effort led by Melbourne business man and APC Patron Bill Guest, we built a custom environment for men with state of the art treatment facilities, waiting lounges and consulting suites in North Melbourne's health precinct.
Men who usually experience significant and extremely stressful long waiting times to get diagnosed and treated at public hospitals are seen within weeks of making an appointment.
