Western Australia General Practice Education and Training (WAGPET) is the sole provider of the federally funded Australian General Practice Training program (AGPT) in WA. The program takes doctors seeking to specialise as general practitioners through to fellowship - the highest recognition for a GP.
Funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health, WAGPET delivers training and education to registrars through a structured program, supported by a highly-skilled network of medical educators and supervisors. Each registrar is placed in accredited medical practices in WA's regional towns and metropolitan locations.

The WAGPET awards recognise outstanding registrars, supervisors, external clinical teaching visitors and training facilities across our state for their demonstrated excellence in practice, education and community impact.
The 2020 WAGPET awards are now open and will close on Friday, 24 April 2020. The awards include Registrar of the Year, Educator of the Year, Training Facility of the Year and Rural Generalist of the year.
Nominations can be submitted by anyone who has involvement with the WAGPET training program, including GP registrars, prevocational doctors, GP supervisors, practice staff, WAGPET staff and members. Please note, self nominations are not accepted. Nominations open annually towards the end of the year and are submitted online.
