The Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine vision is to ensure quality health outcomes when using ultrasound.

The mission is fostering a collaborative multi-disciplinary community of highly competent health professionals who deliver ultrasound excellence.

Our goal is to maximise relevance, sustainability and impact within the ultrasound community, across Australia and New Zealand, during and beyond the COVID-19 crisis.

The objectives of ASUM are;

To ensure best practice, health and safety of the ultrasound practitioners and their patients during COVID-19 and beyond
To foster and engaged ultrasound community that actively collaborates, shares and supports each other to the benefit of all participants and their patients
To ensure operational alignment to deliver positive outcomes for the ultrasound community in a sustainable manner
Diagnostic ultrasound is one of the most rapidly expanding branches of medicine. Technological developments enable higher resolution images to be obtained with smaller transducers and equipment. As a result, ultrasound is now used extensively to examine virtually every part of the body.

Several of the specialty colleges include diagnostic ultrasound in their own area of interest, but only ASUM provides regular education and standards across all disciplines of diagnostic ultrasound. We recognise and acknowledge the many generous volunteers who enable ASUM to provide to the wider ultrasound community to deliver quality patient care and outcomes.
