ACA is Australia's largest single registration body for Counsellors and Psychotherapists with over 7,000 members. ACA serves a crucial role in advocating and advancing the profession of counselling and psychotherapy.
ACA's objectives include:
Promote and advocate for the counselling profession.

Why us
ACA maintains a National Office staffed with full time professionals. ACA has a full time Chief Executive Officer, Membership Officer and Administrator. Most enquiries and membership applications are dealt with immediately; and important tasks such as political lobbying with government and stakeholders is maintained on an ongoing basis.
ACA is proactive. ACA's efforts are reflected in numerous achievements such as being the first counselling association to successfully negotiate Medibank Private provider numbers for members; recognition by WorkCover NSW; ACA was the only counselling association requested to comment at the 2011 Senate Enquiry into Mental Health; ACA meets regularly with government Ministers; ACA is working with Medicare Locals and Divisions of GPs; plus many other activities that raise the profile of counsellors and psychotherapists. ACA also works diligently to expand resources and opportunities to help generate employment for our members.
