Business / Provider Profile
We are dedicated to improving the lives of people living with heart disease. We are an independent Medical Research Institute, and the largest national provider of training to cardiac rehabilitation health professionals. Our Cardiac Wellbeing Program delivers online, telephone and face-to-face support to cardiac patients and their families.

Thus the Australian Centre for Heart Health has three pillars - research, health professional workforce development, and delivering direct patient services.
Why us
Our focus on effective cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention means that we undertake research into the psychological, social and behavioural aspects of cardiac disease. Our studies involve patients with heart disease and the health professionals who work with these patients. We seek to understand what factors help in recovery, what makes for a better quality of life for people living with a heart condition, how patients can be assisted to modify risk factors for heart disease, and how they can be supported in self-management.

We strongly advocate evidence-led practice and with our commitment to translational research we use our research findings to develop novel, targeted programs to help patients and their families, particularly to assist with emotional and behavioural recovery after heart attack and heart surgery. Results from our research studies also inform our health professional training programs which, in turn, supports the cardiac workforce and improves the quality of care offered to patients across Australia and internationally.
