We provide education direct to health professionals and services to organisations with the aim to improve the standard of healthcare across Australia.
Our health professional education includes:
- Online and face-to-face education for health professional continuing professional development in primary care and critical care.
- General Practice training courseware.
- FRACGP exam preparation courses.
- Vocational training for Aged Care.
Our services for organisations include:
-Learning design and development including audio-visual production.
-eLearning technology solutions.
-Education hosting, marketing and delivery.
-Education consulting services for organisations including training needs analysis.
-In-house course delivery.
-Staff certification via our Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
Working with clients across corporate, government, NGOs, Primary Health Networks, and training organisations, Medcast provides a full range of e-learning solutions and blended courses.
Medcast was founded by Dr Stephen Barnett in 2013, building on his PhD in online communities, 20 years of clinical experience, and his involvement in graduate and postgraduate medical education, research and health informatics.
Medcast has a history of long-term working partnerships with key clients, such as the Black Dog Institute. In 2013, in partnership with the Black Dog Institute, Medcast established a Virtual Community of Practice for e-Mental Health. Medcast continues to support this project through the delivery of training to six thousand (6,000) health professionals over the last 5 years.
In March 2018 Medcast acquired Critical Care Education Services - a long-established medical training business. Critical Care Education Services (CCES) has been operating successfully for over 30 years providing a range of public and in-house training courses to nurses, doctors and allied health professionals.
In April 2018 Medcast entered into a joint venture with, NB Medical, a UK-based medical education group to offer their successful ‘Hot Topics GP Update' training courses in Australia. Hot Topics is a one-day update course for GPs, accredited with the RACGP. NB Medical, is a leading UK provider of CPD for GPs, educating over 20,000 practitioners each year throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands.
In May 2019 Medcast established The Medcast Institute, to provide a comprehensive vocational education offering to Aged Care and community services. This Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is registered by ASQA to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET) services that qualify for government funding. The RTO has a Smart & Skilled contract with the New South Wales Government.
