EMET (Emergency Medicine Education and Training) is a Commonwealth-funded education program administered by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM). SAPMEA has been appointed by ACEM to deliver the EMET program in South Australia.
The EMET Program aims to enhance the quality and access to emergency care in rural and regional Australia through the provision of emergency medicine education, training and supervision. As the majority of South Australian regional and rural hospitals are not staffed by Specialist Emergency Medicine doctors, the EMET program provides vital education and support to the general practitioners, medical officers, nurses, and paramedics who provide emergency care to these rural communities.
EMET also provides supervision and support for doctors working in EDs to complete the Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC) and Emergency Medicine Diploma (EMD).
