MND Australia is the national peak advocate for people living with MND. Together with our network of state MND associations we advance, promote and influence MND care and research, with a vision to achieving a world free from MND.
Our Mission, as the national body for people living with MND, is to encourage collaboration with our members to:
promote optimal care outcomes for people living with MND, and
enable research that will identify the cause and lead to better care, control, and ultimately a cure for MND.

Why us
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition affecting the nerves that communicate between a person's brain and their muscles. People with MND lose the ability to walk, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. The average life expectancy is only 2-3 years. Its cause is unknown and currently there is no cure.
Every day two Australians die from MND and two more are diagnosed. Over 2,100 Australians are living with motor neurone disease. Your lifetime risk of getting MND is 1 in 300.
MND Australia advances MND care and research nationally. We advocate for those affected, provide information and raise awareness of this devastating disease. Through our research arm, MND Research Australia, we fund vital research to uncover treatments and a cure for MND.
We work closely with the six state MND associations who provide direct care for people living with MND and their families. Our state associations ensure that all Australians affected by MND have access to the support they need.
As a non-profit organisation, MND associations rely on donations. We thank you for supporting our vision of a world free from MND.
