Business / Provider Profile
Therapeutic Guidelines Limited (TGL) is an independent not-for-profit organisation. Its aim is to promote the quality use of medicines, and it does this through the writing, publication and sale of Therapeutic Guidelines.
Its reputation is staked not only on its publications but also on its independence of government and commercial interests. It is financially self-sufficient and does not receive any form of government funding. To protect and maintain this independence a policy on conflict of interest is in place and directors, members of the company and members of the expert writing groups are all required to provide interest statements.
Therapeutic Guidelines are written principally for prescribers to provide them with clear, practical, succinct and up-to-date therapeutic information for a range of diseases. They are based on the latest international literature, interpreted by some of Australia's most eminent and respected experts, with input from an extensive network of general practitioners and other users. Therapeutic Guidelines represent the essence of current available evidence. Click here to read a detailed description of the process used to develop the content.

Why us
Therapeutic Guidelines are widely respected and are an accepted part of the Australian medical culture. They are used in all Australian medical and pharmacy schools, and are used extensively in public teaching hospitals and in community medical and pharmacy practices.
The Guidelines are published in print format as a series of pocket-sized books, and also in electronic formats suitable for both computers and mobile devices. The electronic versions present the same information as in the books utilising a simple interface with easy navigation, rapid access to needed information and cross-platform and browser functionality.
Research is an integral part of the organisation, the major focus being on improving access to the Guidelines at the point of clinical decision making and increasing integration of the Guidelines with other sources of independent information.
