  • Describe the routes of acquisition of STIs in children
  • Describe appropriate investigations and management of a child with a possible STI
  • Recognise your personal limitations in advising on the significance of STIs in children and the need for further advice

Prerequisites
Before commencing this session you should have completed:

  • Module 8/Child Sexual Abuse (CSA)
  • Module 9/STIs in the Newborn

This session covers the presentations and differential diagnoses of STIs in prepubertal children and considers the possible routes of transmission and significance of infections.

It describes the approach to a child with a possible STI including appropriate investigations and management.
