Principles of Diagnostic Medical Imaging Nursing
This unit of study provides students with the opportunity to explore the principles of Diagnostic Medical Imaging Nursing, identifying professional issues related to specialist practice through the delivery of comprehensive person-centred care.
The unit of study considers the principles of Diagnostic Medical Imaging Nursing through reflective practice and analysing and exploring nursing’s professional, legal, and ethical aspects and examining the provision and coordination of evidence-based, collaborative care required to meet the diverse needs of persons in the medical imaging environment.

Theme 1: Introduction to diagnostic medical imaging (DMI)
Reflect on the principles and procedures of common medical imaging modalities and how they affect your practice
Theme 2: Introduction to diagnostic imaging modalities
Analyse the requirements of people undergoing medical imaging procedures to provide evidence based holistic nursing care
Theme 3: Holistic, person-centred care
Discuss the implications of legal, ethical, and cultural issues in relation to the nursing care of people undergoing medical imaging procedures
Theme 4: Special populations and holistic, person-centred care
Evaluate the major challenges in managing a safe environment for individuals in diagnostic medical imaging
Theme 5: Contrast
Analyse solutions to complex healthcare problems in the diagnostic medical imaging environment
Theme 6: The future of DMI
Teach specialist knowledge, skills, and ideas of nursing care in the medical imaging environment to others.
