Module 1: Fundamentals of Wound Assessment

The skin is the body’s largest organ and an integral part of the integumentary system. Nurses are required to have a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the skin and wound physiology to ensure effective wound management. Through this module you will gain greater knowledge and understanding of the structure and functions of skin and the principles of wound healing.

Module 2: Principles of Wound Management

Wound management is an important skill to master as a healthcare professional, to ensure appropriate and timely wound healing. This module will explore the principles of wound management including wound assessment, wound cleansing, dressing techniques and considerations of antibiotic management.

Module 3: Chronic and Complex Wound Management

In this module you will explore the factors leading to wound chronicity as well as learn to identify different chronic and complex wound types including aetiologies. You will also gain understanding of the principles of chronic and complex wound assessment including the importance of wound cleansing and wound debridement in the management of chronic wounds.
