Chronic and Complex Wound Management
Each year in Australia approximately half a million people suffer with a chronic and/or complex wound. Chronic wounds not only have a significant impact on the quality of life of those affected, treatment of these types of wounds costs the health care system close to four billion dollars annually.
In this module you will explore the factors leading to wound chronicity as well as learn to identify different chronic and complex wound types including aetiologies. You will also gain understanding of the principles of chronic and complex wound assessment including the importance of wound cleansing and wound debridement in the management of chronic wounds.
