This session will help to recognise tics and related behaviours in children.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Evaluate a young person with tics and recognise the clinical features of Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS)
  • Describe the distinction between tics and other kinds of movement problems
  • List the mental health conditions intimately related and often associated with GTS
  • Describe the way that clinical professionals are likely to adapt their advice for the child
  • Offer advice, understanding and knowledge of how to manage and when and where to refer

This session uses self assessments that help you check what you have learnt. You do not have to use them and your answers are not seen by anyone else.
