Tracheostomy Care Workshop
This workshop utilises interactive teaching approaches in a simulated environment which will enhance participants learning experience and insight in this area of clinical practice.
Objectives
Participants will learn to:
Understand the anatomy and physiology related to tracheostomy.
Recognize the indications and contraindications for tracheostomy placement.
Perform patient assessment, nursing cares associated with a tracheostomised patients
Perform tracheostomy care procedures, including suctioning, cleaning, and changing of tracheostomy tubes.
Identify and manage potential complications associated with tracheostomy.
Implement effective communication strategies with patients and families regarding
tracheostomy care
Target Audience
This workshop is ideal for nurses, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with tracheostomies.
Presenter
Marin Duvnjak.
Marin is a highly experienced ENT Nurse Practitioner specialising in Tracheostomy services. Marin is the president of the Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Nurses Group (OHNNG) and is involved in several research projects and clinical trials as a study coordinator.
