The Principles of Change Management course for Dental Practice
This session defines the principles that inform change management and describes the process of change.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Discuss the types of change management
- Discuss the characteristics of the different change processes
- Identify the drivers for change
- Identify the barriers to change
It may sound like an oxymoron, but 'change is a constant'. It will occur haphazardly unless there is a structured approach to managing the changes.
Kieran qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1977 and has worked in general dental practice since then. He was awarded the Diploma in General Dental Practice by the FGDP in 1993 and was on the Board of the West of Scotland Division of the Faculty from 1993-98.
Kieran has been involved in dental vocational training since 1989 and became Dental Practice Advisor to Lanarkshire NHS Board in 2002. He gained the Certificate in Dental Health Services Leadership and Management in 2006 from the FGDP and became Associate Course Director on the Course in 2008.
In addition to his work as a GDP, Kieran continues as DPA in Lanarkshire and also works as a clinical assessor and clinical case reviewer for the National Clinical Assessment Service.
His interests are in Continuing Professional Development for dentists and their teams and Quality Assurance, particularly with regard to care provided in General Dental Services.
